In vertebrates, the different parts of the brain and the cranial nerves that result from it are particularly well preserved. Humans, for example, have the same parts of the brain that are innervated by the same nerves as in sharks. Some modifications/adaptations may of course be present. On the brains represented here, the colours are identical for the different parts. The telencephalon is in turquoise blue, the diencephalon in deep blue, the mesencephalon in green, the metencephalon in red, the myelencephalon (or elongated marrow) in red.
